The AMMER chicken and duck rotisserie

owned by the Schmidbauer family of restaurateurs—now in its fifth generation—has been a fixture at the Munich Oktoberfest since 1885 and can look back on a long-standing tradition with deep roots. As the oldest chicken rotisserie in the world, we have constantly reinvented ourselves, lovingly combining the old with the new.
In our festival tent and beer garden, we welcome our guests at beautifully laid tables and spoil young and old alike with our famous organic grilled chicken, crispy duck, Augustiner beer from wooden barrels, and much more. Our street vendors sell Oktoberfest delicacies to take home or enjoy on the go.
Everything that goes on the plate and into the glass is carefully selected and prepared with a dedication to quality and our region. All the hard-working AMMER angels—our employees, our musicians, and everyone who contributes to a successful AMMER Oktoberfest—put their heart and soul into ensuring the well-being of our guests.

Company mission statement

AMMER is a traditional Munich-based chicken and duck roasting company that has been at the Oktoberfest (Wiesn) since 1885.

With cosmopolitanism and enthusiasm, the fifth generation of this family of restaurateurs now runs the Wiesn tent, creating a place for everyone to enjoy themselves and celebrate.

The company’s commitment to high quality and preserving tradition guides its decisions regarding the selection of suppliers, products, and all business relationships.

The AMMER chicken and duck roasting company promotes team spirit and collaboration among its employees in order to achieve its ultimate goal: guest satisfaction. The employees are affectionately referred to as AMMER angels.

Sustainable business practices and actions are of particular importance to the company. AMMER sees its responsibility as part of society and therefore continuously strives for improvement and innovation in the area of resource conservation and the environment, seeing itself as a pioneer in sustainable implementation. As many of the products as possible should be regional, seasonal, and organically grown. Supraregional products are avoided. The goal is to implement the concept of sustainability on a holistic level and to communicate it both internally and externally.
